Purpose: Co-development of best practices for solving complex issues associated with moving course materials from Oncourse Classic to Oncourse CL while considering the opportunities of the new application. Successful candidates will work closely with IT staff to develop strategies for and documentation of effective transition to Oncourse CL.

Requirements and Responsibilities

Applicants are encouraged to involve the teaching and learning centers on the IU campuses in their proposals or the preparation of them. These centers include the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at IUPUI, the Teaching and Learning Technologies Centers (TLTC) at IUB, and similar centers on regional campuses.

Eligibility Requirements

All full-time faculty at Indiana University are eligible. Adjunct and part-time faculty must be able to demonstrate successful and engaged use of Oncourse Classic. This would include the use of a combination of tools including assessment manager, gradebook, message forums, chat, course mail, schedule tool, syllabus and library tools.

Responsibilities of an AT&T Fellow

AT&T Fellows are expected to document their findings in a detailed report filed with the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology within three months of the distribution of the project funds. Documentation will be co-developed with IU Knowledge Base and IT Training and Education personnel.

Fellows are expected to share their findings with colleagues during the grant period at selected events as well as serve as faculty mentors and advocates for technology, contribute information to the IU good practices database, and participate in at least one Summer Leadership Forum.

Criteria Guidelines

Each Preparing for Innovation proposal should include the following sections:

  1. Background: Description of tasks to be performed in the transition from Oncourse Classic to Oncourse CL.
  2. Overview: How will the project enable a smooth transition from Oncourse Classic to Oncourse CL?
    • Use of Technology
      • Does the proposal take advantage of IU’s learning environment?
      • Will the project result in modules that will help faculty transition to Oncourse CL?
      • Does the project focus on specific and complex transition issues associated with moving materials to Oncourse CL?
      • Will the proposed project take advantage of new opportunities in Oncourse CL?
  3. Budget: Total budget should not exceed $2,500. (Travel not allowed)
    • Is the budget reasonable in light of the categories of support requested?
    • Is the budget justified in the proposal narrative?
    • What are the proposed uses of AT&T resources? (i.e., materials or software, purchased services, stipends, faculty release time, DMS, other expenses).
